The Point is an incredible place on a beautiful location, with access to over 10 waves within 20 minutes scooter ride, fantastic food (sometimes spaniard inspired and sometimes local indonesian recipes) with a great vibe to it as all meals are family style (except breakfast, which is also phenomenal), and very beautifully built house and rooms. Comfort and care was felt all throughout. I have been coming here for 2 years, and plan to come here for as many years as I can. Most importantly, hosts (Ivan and Laia) and staff (Hany as well as rest of staff) are absolutely incredible. Caring, charismatic, extremely helpful, and just overall great people. Would not change one thing about The Point.
We had a great time staying at The Point. Our room was spacious, clean & extremely comfortable with heavenly AC & hot water! It was nice to have dinner with Ivan & Hany & the other guests & play board games after dinner (more tokens please!!). Ivan is great to chat with (& very funny) and Hany is lovely. The surf in this area is amazing. Unfortunately we didn’t get to surf The Point but it was awesome to be able to explore other spots and see HTs in action. Ivan knows everything you need to know about the surf around here so hit him up! Thank you to all the staff for making our stay very comfy, fun & relaxed (even when the waves were big & stressful)
Our second time at the Point and it was really good to be back! We had tricky wind conditions for surfing, but Ivan was always there to advice what would be the best call. If we went to a new spot, he most of the time came with us to show the ropes so despite the wind we had some really good sessions. And if the surf wasn’t great, he’d always be up for a session of fishing. The food was still very good and always more than enough. I really love love love the breakfast, with so many options to choose so its easy to vary every morning with something different! The rooms are spacious and comfy and the hot shower is something else in the islands, we definitely enjoyed that! The house overlooks a fun surfbreak and if you didn’t feel like surfing you could just sit on the terrace with a cold drink and watch others. Laia helped us with any questions we had and with arranging transportation and other things. You really feel like part of the family with them at the Point! Until the next time!
Ivan and Laia are wonderful people and amazing hosts. I had the luck and the pleasure to stay at The Point for an entire month and I couldn’t have wished for a better place where to spend my time in the Mentawais. Staying at the point just feels like staying at home, the rooms are cozy and the food it’s top quality and varied everyday and the staff always manages to put a smile on your face. HT resort is just 5 mins walking distance and the The Point surf spot (my favorite) is right in front of the house. If you don’t feel like surfing one day you can rent a scooter to explore the island or you can get an amazing massage directly on the premise. Or you can try to challenge Ivan on a chess game! Love you guys, I’ll be back.
Extremely friendly and helpful hosts who took great care of my dad and I. Excellent food (they were able to cater for vegetarians really well) plus heaps of good knowledge about the surf and other stuff. Great location right in front of a really fun wave and just down the road from HT’s. Helped us organise travel to and from north sipora as well. Would certainly recommend!
Experiencia increíble y totalmente recomendable.
7 días aquí y se nos ha hecho muy corto… Hemos estado como en casa en la otra punta del mundo. Las habitaciones y baños, super limpias y con muchísima luz. Las zonas comunes super cómodas y con vistas increíbles al mar. La comida muy buena y en cantidades muy generosas.
La atención de los dueños es total y 24/7. Te ayudan en todo momento, tanto para la organización del viaje, como durante el viaje para elegir planes, seleccionar olas, etc.
El ambiente en la casa es súper bueno, hay BBQ night, Noche de pizzas,… y se está muy agusto.
Como digo en la primera frase, un sitio totalmente recomendable al que sin duda volveremos.
